Government is set to finalise amendments to the intermediary guidelines of the IT Act intended to curb misinformation and unlawful content. In a 21-page report, a parliamentary committee has suggested measures that social media companies like Google, Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter need to follow to curb online child porn. The panel met officials of these companies before forming the report. However, some guidelines have not gone well with these companies as they include breaking encryption. Here are the proposed steps that these companies need to follow as per the report.
